WPMA Coordinated Outings

The WPMA has many Coordinated (planned ahead) outings throughout the year, with many being held in during the mining season, IE. Summer months, as authorized by the Gold and Fish Pamphlet. These are a great time for members to go to a claim or area they would not normally visit, see, play and learn how to use the various pieces of equipment and processes used in Small Scale Mineral Prospecting and Mining.

Since the Outings Coordinator may not be able to plan or attend each and every outing, we ask for volunteers to act on his behalf as Wagonmasters. Wagonmasters are the point of contact/event coordinator for any specific outing. These individuals are normally the first in, last out and is the person responsible for any specific activity (Potluck's, seminars, common digs, site cleanups) as well as being Person In Charge on a claim where a planned outing is taking place. If you would like to volunteer to be the wagonmaster for one or more of the outings, please contact the outings coordinator.

WPMA members are allowed to bring guests with them to the outings to provide the opportunity to share with their family and friends, who are not members, the experience of prospecting and mining. There is the Association rule that any guest may only visit twice. To protect the association against any liability that should arise while on our claims, You, the member, is responsible for filling out a Visitor Release of Liability and getting it submitted to the Association. BEFORE your visit, the member and his guest(s) read, sign and date the release, make a copy, mail the original to the association and carry the copy with you while you are on the claim.

A gentle reminder that any visits to any of the association claims requires the completion of the Mining Claim Work Form. The outing Wagonmaster may provide you a copy, but this is not always the case, so YOU should bring your own as you are responsible for the completion and submission of the form. The wagonmaster may collect them and submit the entire outing for submission for you and the other participants.

Want to widen your exploration area? PLEASE contact the Outings Coordinator if there is a particular claim or area you would like to see an outing at. We can then post your recommendation and request comments from other members. Should you be planning on being at any claim for a significant amount of time and would welcome the opportunity for a large gathering, please contact the Outings Coordinator. so that we can get that tidbit of information distributed out to our members who may want to explore that area also.
